Position Purpose: The Manager of Information Technology Systems role in the IT department is responsible for managing special projects, help desk, and general business applications. Working with the Director of IT, the Manager will help determine business requirements, conduct process analysis, and execute projects as approved by the Director of IT. This position also provides team participation, leadership, supervision and direction for the Information Technology Specialist and the Applications Analyst.

Key Performance Areas:  

  • Project Management and Implementation:

- Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate technology projects aligned with departmental priorities.

- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for software and processes.

- Research, assess, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors; lead related meetings and document outcomes.

- Develop and maintain project documentation including scope, requirements, plans, and status reports.

- Deliver training through in-person sessions, video conferences, recordings, and written guides.

  • Supervise and back-up two full-time team members focused on help desk support and business application management.
  • Oversee help desk functions including phone systems, end-user support, and event technology setup.
  • Manage application lifecycle: selection, implementation, configuration, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate project effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify needs, improve operations, and optimize technology solutions.
  • Manage third-party vendors and consultants to ensure deliverables meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.

Other Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with IT project tools such as Confluence, Jira, or similar platforms. Experience managing Jira is preferred.
  • 1–2 years of project coordination or management experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft systems and help desk software required.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit or performing arts environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and adapt to change.
  • Ability work independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience translating user needs into practical, technology-based solutions.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments and technical proficiency in interacting with varying skill levels.
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity to confidentiality.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work primarily on-site, with flexibility for remote work.
