The Ordway: The Ordway is the arts epicenter of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and one of the leading nonprofit performing arts centers in the country. Founded on the belief that performing arts should be wide-ranging and accessible to all, the Ordway is home to a variety of performances that encompass the finest in Broadway musicals, concerts, dance and vocal artists. Known as the most comfortable place to catch a show in Minnesota, the Ordway includes a magnificent 1,900-seat Music Theater, a state-of-the-art 1,100-seat Concert Hall and spacious lobbies. Position Purpose:

The Barista/Bartender is responsible for providing Ordway customer service, while maintaining and stocking bars, coffee, snack, and storage areas. If assigned, coat check duties include taking care of guests checked items and assisting with building questions when required.

Key Performance Areas:  

  • Provide beverage and snack service to guests and clients with the highest level of customer service to ensure the Ordway experience.
  • Ensure that all state and federal laws are followed when serving alcohol or food.
  • Perform pre- show and post- show set-up, clean up, and inventory.
  • Clean work area, stock storage areas, and reconcile cash boxes after each shift.
  • Provide coat check service to guests with the highest level of customer service to ensure the Ordway experience.
  • Follow established coat check procedure, maintain numerical order of coats, and return correct coat at the end of the performance.
  • Assist guests with directions or information as needed.
  • Reconcile cash box at end of each shift.
  • The Ordway is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the organization through their communication skills.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse community populations.
  • Ability to quickly and easily move around and maintain body equilibrium.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, including excellent oral and written communication skills and professional maturity.
  • Proficiency in the use of POS systems and standard cash management.
  • Exceptional customer service required.
  • Previous bartending experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • The ability to work evenings and weekends is required.
